# Argon2 Hash Generator > Use this Argon2 hash generator to create a Argon2 password hash. Hash text or encoded bytes and copy the complete salted result for verification. This **Argon2 hash generator** creates a salted password hash from text or encoded bytes. Use it to prepare development fixtures and understand the encoded value needed for verification. Password hashing is one-way; it does not encrypt a password for later decryption. ## Overview & Metadata - **Canonical URL:** https://million.tools/argon2/ - **Markdown Copy (.md.txt):** https://million.tools/argon2.md.txt - **Plain Text Copy (.txt):** https://million.tools/argon2.txt - **SEO Title:** Argon2 Hash Generator Online | Password Hashing - **Alternative Names:** Argon2id Password Hasher, Generate Argon2 Hash, Argon2 password hasher, Argon2 password hash generator, Online Argon2 generator, Argon2 hashing tool - **Category:** [Hash](https://million.tools/hash/) - **Tags:** [#Argon2](https://million.tools/tag/argon2/), [#KDF](https://million.tools/tag/kdf/) - **Application Category:** `DeveloperApplication` - **Platform:** Web (All modern desktop and mobile browsers, requires JavaScript) - **Price:** Free ($0.00 USD, no registration or sign-up required) - **Live Calculation:** Supported (`Auto / Live` toggle enabled by default) - **Usage Statistics:** 2 uses · 7 views - **Published:** 2026-11-02 - **Last Updated:** 2026-11-02 - **Author:** Egor Volchenko (Developer & Author) ## Key Features - Generate Argon2id encoded password hashes - Use fixed memory, iteration, and parallelism settings - Generate a random salt for each hash - Accept text or encoded input bytes - Copy the complete hash and clear text ## Parameters & Interface Controls ### Input Parameters & Options - `input_text`: Input text. - `hmac_key`: Salt (Optional / Auto-generated). - `kdf_iterations`: Number. Iterations / Work Factor - `kdf_length`: Number. Key Length (Bytes) - `input_encoding`: `Hex` | `Hex (Ignore Non-Hex Characters)` | `Base64` | `UTF-8` | `UTF-16LE` | `UTF-16BE` | `Windows-1251 (Cyrillic)` | `Windows-1252 (Latin 1)` | ... (42 options) - `output_format`: `Hex (lower)` | `Hex (UPPER)` | `Base64` ### Output Fields & Metrics - `result`: Argon2 Hash Result. - **Controls:** `Derive Key`, `Clear`, `Copy`, `Fill test data`, `Auto / Live` ## Interactive Example (Test Vector) **Settings:** - Input Encoding: `UTF-8` - Output Format: `Hex (lower)` **Input text:** ```text MilliOn.t00ls ``` **Argon2 Hash Result:** ```text $argon2id$v=19$m=65536,t=4,p=1$P3Bhz4vA7bnYyVixrwOsRQ$wN4G+Yg8iwz1fpXmNdfM7+TWNEGR36uhF6XysSUU+vw ``` ## How to use Argon2 Hash Generator Use the steps below to create a Argon2 password hash. ### Create a Argon2 password hash 1. **Enter a test password:** Type or paste a non-sensitive test password into Input text. 2. **Choose the input representation:** Use Input Encoding: to describe the password: UTF-8 for normal text, or Hex or Base64 for encoded bytes. 3. **Process the input:** Keep Auto / Live on to update the result as you edit. To work manually, turn Auto / Live off and click Run. 4. **Read the complete hash:** Read Argon2 Hash Result and retain the complete encoded string. 5. **Copy or clear:** Click Copy to copy the result. Use Clear where shown, or a field's clear control, to clear the text. For a reproducible verification example, the test password `million-test` matches `$argon2id$v=19$m=65536,t=4,p=1$WOTd/tGxakQ5SF4t61ZueA$/5pJ3KHg0yZxoK9yPKNLkUDCOlLu4Q1cyR2VDypU+Ls`. A new run uses a fresh random salt when none is supplied, so its full output will differ. ### Read the encoded result The generator uses Argon2id version 19 with `m=65536` KiB, `t=4`, and `p=1`. It generates a random 16-byte salt and a 32-byte hash. These settings are fixed in this form; the output is a complete encoded hash. ### Retain the verification parameters The encoded string records the variant, version, memory cost, iterations, parallelism, salt, and hash. Store that whole string for later verification. The output-format radio buttons do not convert it to a raw digest. ## Frequently asked questions ### Which Argon2 variant does this generator use? It generates Argon2id hashes. This interface has no selector for Argon2i or Argon2d. ### Can I change memory, iterations, or parallelism? No. The current values are 65536 KiB of memory, four iterations, and parallelism one. The form does not expose parameter controls. ### Why does hashing the same password produce different strings? A new random salt is generated for each run. The salt is stored in the encoded result, allowing a verifier to check the password later. ### Should I store the whole Argon2 string? Yes. Keep the variant, version, parameters, salt, and digest together. Removing parts of the encoded string can prevent verification. ### Does the output-format selector change the Argon2 hash? No. The result remains a complete encoded hash string. Hex and Base64 radio choices do not provide a raw-hash mode on this page. ### Is the text processed entirely in my browser? No. The current form sends its input to the calculation API. Use non-sensitive sample data when testing. ## Related Tools - [SHA-224 Hash Generator](https://million.tools/sha224/): Generate a SHA-224 digest from text or encoded bytes.
