ARGON2 HASH GENERATOR ===================== Use this Argon2 hash generator to create a Argon2 password hash. Hash text or encoded bytes and copy the complete salted result for verification. This Argon2 hash generator creates a salted password hash from text or encoded bytes. Use it to prepare development fixtures and understand the encoded value needed for verification. Password hashing is one-way; it does not encrypt a password for later decryption. Create a Argon2 password hash: 1. Enter a test password: Type or paste a non-sensitive test password into Input text. 2. Choose the input representation: Use Input Encoding: to describe the password: UTF-8 for normal text, or Hex or Base64 for encoded bytes. 3. Process the input: Keep Auto / Live on to update the result as you edit. To work manually, turn Auto / Live off and click Run. 4. Read the complete hash: Read Argon2 Hash Result and retain the complete encoded string. 5. Copy or clear: Click Copy to copy the result. Use Clear where shown, or a field's clear control, to clear the text. For a reproducible verification example, the test password million-test matches $argon2id$v=19$m=65536,t=4,p=1$WOTd/tGxakQ5SF4t61ZueA$/5pJ3KHg0yZxoK9yPKNLkUDCOlLu4Q1cyR2VDypU+Ls. A new run uses a fresh random salt when none is supplied, so its full output will differ. Read the encoded result: The generator uses Argon2id version 19 with m=65536 KiB, t=4, and p=1. It generates a random 16-byte salt and a 32-byte hash. These settings are fixed in this form; the output is a complete encoded hash. Retain the verification parameters: The encoded string records the variant, version, memory cost, iterations, parallelism, salt, and hash. Store that whole string for later verification. The output-format radio buttons do not convert it to a raw digest. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS -------------------------- Q: Which Argon2 variant does this generator use? A: It generates Argon2id hashes. This interface has no selector for Argon2i or Argon2d. Q: Can I change memory, iterations, or parallelism? A: No. The current values are 65536 KiB of memory, four iterations, and parallelism one. The form does not expose parameter controls. Q: Why does hashing the same password produce different strings? A: A new random salt is generated for each run. The salt is stored in the encoded result, allowing a verifier to check the password later. Q: Should I store the whole Argon2 string? A: Yes. Keep the variant, version, parameters, salt, and digest together. Removing parts of the encoded string can prevent verification. Q: Does the output-format selector change the Argon2 hash? A: No. The result remains a complete encoded hash string. Hex and Base64 radio choices do not provide a raw-hash mode on this page. Q: Is the text processed entirely in my browser? A: No. The current form sends its input to the calculation API. Use non-sensitive sample data when testing.
