# BLAKE2s Hash Generator > Use this BLAKE2s hash generator and digest calculator for text or encoded bytes. Copy 256-bit results as Hex or Base64. This **BLAKE2s hash generator** converts text or encoded bytes into a 256-bit digest. Check BLAKE2s-256 values when matching a protocol or testing embedded-system output. Choose lowercase Hex, uppercase Hex, or Base64, then copy the value for comparison. ## Overview & Metadata - **Canonical URL:** https://million.tools/blake2s/ - **Markdown Copy (.md.txt):** https://million.tools/blake2s.md.txt - **Plain Text Copy (.txt):** https://million.tools/blake2s.txt - **SEO Title:** BLAKE2s Hash Generator Online | Hex and Base64 - **Alternative Names:** BLAKE2s-256 Calculator, Calculate a BLAKE2s Digest, BLAKE2s digest calculator, BLAKE2s checksum generator, BLAKE2s hash calculator, BLAKE2s online hasher - **Category:** [Hash](https://million.tools/hash/) - **Tags:** [#BLAKE](https://million.tools/tag/blake/) - **Application Category:** `DeveloperApplication` - **Platform:** Web (All modern desktop and mobile browsers, requires JavaScript) - **Price:** Free ($0.00 USD, no registration or sign-up required) - **Live Calculation:** Supported (`Auto / Live` toggle enabled by default) - **Usage Statistics:** 5 uses · 12 views - **Published:** 2026-11-07 - **Last Updated:** 2026-11-07 - **Author:** Egor Volchenko (Developer & Author) ## Key Features - Calculate fixed 256-bit BLAKE2s digests - Interpret text, Hex, or Base64 input - Display lowercase Hex, uppercase Hex, or Base64 - Update with Auto / Live or run manually - Copy the digest and clear text - Use the separately documented HMAC-style option ## Parameters & Interface Controls ### Input Parameters & Options - `input_text`: Input text. - `hmac_key`: Secret Key / Password. - `input_encoding`: `Hex` | `Hex (Ignore Non-Hex Characters)` | `Base64` | `UTF-8` | `UTF-16LE` | `UTF-16BE` | `Windows-1251 (Cyrillic)` | `Windows-1252 (Latin 1)` | ... Paste the message into Input text. Select UTF-8 under Input Encoding: for ordinary text, or select the representation of encoded bytes. 2. Leave Enable Keyed BLAKE2S off for an unkeyed BLAKE2s digest. The separate keyed workflow below describes what that switch actually enables. 3. Choose Hex (lower), Hex (UPPER), or Base64 for the result. 4. Leave Auto / Live on to update the result as you edit. To run manually, turn it off and click Run. 5. Read BLAKE2s Hash Result. Keep the input bytes and the selected algorithm unchanged when comparing a reference value. 6. Click Copy to copy the result. Use Clear where shown, or the field clear controls, to remove the text. With UTF-8 input `abc` and the key switch off, lowercase Hex output is `508c5e8c327c14e2e1a72ba34eeb452f37458b209ed63a294d999b4c86675982`. > A rejected request may leave an earlier result visible. Clear the fields and recheck the input before relying on a new calculation. ### Match bytes before comparing hashes A message is hashed after Input Encoding: is applied. The UTF-8 string `616263` is different from Hex `616263`, which represents `abc`. Spaces and line endings also count as data. ### Understand the fixed digest size This form returns 32 bytes, or 64 hexadecimal characters. It has no output-length control. A shorter native BLAKE2s digest is a different parameterized hash; simply truncating this result is not an equivalent setting. ### Use the shared HMAC-style option 1. Turn on Enable Keyed BLAKE2S. This selects the form’s HMAC-style operation, not native keyed BLAKE2s. 2. Enter the key in Secret Key / Password and select its representation with Key Encoding (Search/Type):. 3. Keep the message and output representation selected, then click Run or leave Auto / Live enabled. 4. Read BLAKE2s Hash Result and click Copy. Compare only against a reference using the same HMAC-style construction. For UTF-8 message `abc` and UTF-8 key `key`, the enabled switch returns `0018bfddc0c878b3e270c6e59b35af01e164a42d89499c9447a90b58a4d60eb3` in lowercase Hex. ## Frequently asked questions ### Can I decrypt a BLAKE2s hash? No. A hash is a one-way digest, not encrypted text. To check a candidate, hash the same bytes again and compare the results. ### Does the keyed switch use native keyed BLAKE? No. Despite the label Enable Keyed BLAKE2S, this form uses an HMAC-style construction. It does not produce the native keyed BLAKE2s value expected by a system using that algorithm’s built-in key parameter. ### Why does my digest differ from another calculator? Confirm BLAKE2s, the fixed 256-bit size, the exact message bytes, the input encoding, and whether the key switch is enabled. A final newline or a different byte encoding changes the digest. ### Can I choose a different output length? No. The current result is fixed at 256 bits. Hex letter case and Base64 change the representation, not the number of digest bytes. ### Is plain BLAKE2s suitable for password storage? A fast cryptographic hash alone does not provide password stretching. Password storage needs a dedicated password-hashing scheme with suitable salt and work parameters. ### Is the calculation performed only in my browser? No. This form sends the entered data to the calculation API. Use sample data instead of production secrets. ## Related Tools - [BLAKE2b Hash Generator](https://million.tools/blake2b/): Calculate a 512-bit BLAKE2b digest from text or encoded bytes.
