This Cookie Policy explains how million.tools (www.million.tools) uses cookies and similar browser technologies when you visit the website or use its online tools.

Some technologies help websites remember settings or maintain security, while others are used to measure traffic and understand how visitors interact with different pages. This policy explains which technologies may be used on million.tools, what they do, and how you can control them.

For information about how personal data is handled, please see our Privacy Policy.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website can store in your browser. They allow websites to recognize a browser between requests, remember certain preferences, or maintain information needed for particular features.

Not all cookies work the same way. Some disappear when you close your browser, while others remain until they expire or you delete them.

Websites may also use technologies such as local storage, session storage, and JavaScript-based analytics. These can support similar functions without necessarily creating traditional cookies.

How Cookies May Be Used

million.tools uses external services for website analytics, security, and infrastructure. Depending on the page you visit and the features involved, cookies or related technologies may serve the following purposes:

  • Essential functionality: Supporting website security, maintaining technical sessions, and enabling features that require information to be remembered between requests.
  • Analytics: Measuring visits, identifying frequently used tools, and understanding general website activity.
  • Preferences: Remembering settings or choices where a particular website feature supports them.

Not every category applies to every visitor. The cookies and technologies involved depend on which services are active, how they are configured, and whether a particular feature is used.

Cookies Used by Analytics Services

million.tools uses Google Analytics to understand website traffic and visitor interactions. When cookie-based measurement is enabled, Google Analytics may store identifiers in your browser to distinguish visits and maintain information about sessions.

The following cookies are associated with standard Google Analytics 4 implementations:

CookiePurposeDefault Duration
_gaDistinguishes browsers for website analytics.Up to 2 years
_ga_*Maintains session-related information for a Google Analytics property.Up to 2 years

These are standard Google Analytics cookie names, not a guarantee that both cookies will be present during every visit. Their actual use and duration depend on the website’s analytics configuration, browser restrictions, and applicable consent settings.

More information is available in the Google Analytics cookie documentation.

Analytics Without Cookies

Not every analytics service needs cookies to measure website activity.

Ahrefs Web Analytics is designed to provide traffic statistics without setting traditional tracking cookies. It can measure visits, page views, referral sources, and other usage information without storing a persistent tracking cookie in your browser.

Although Ahrefs Web Analytics operates without cookies, it may still process technical information associated with a visit. Its data handling practices are described in the Ahrefs Privacy Policy.

Google Tag Manager

million.tools uses Google Tag Manager (GTM) to manage website scripts and analytics integrations.

Google Tag Manager does not ordinarily set analytics cookies by itself. Instead, it loads and manages other services according to the website’s configuration. Those services may use cookies or process technical information when their tags are activated.

Whether a particular tag runs may depend on the page, configured triggers, browser conditions, and any applicable consent requirements.

Security and Essential Cookies

million.tools uses Cloudflare to support website security, content delivery, and performance.

Depending on the security features enabled, Cloudflare may set cookies to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated traffic, maintain security checks, or remember the result of a browser challenge.

Examples of cookies associated with certain Cloudflare security features include:

  • __cf_bm: May be used by Cloudflare Bot Management or Bot Fight Mode to help identify and manage automated traffic.
  • cf_clearance: May be used to remember that a visitor has successfully completed a Cloudflare security challenge.

These are examples of cookies that Cloudflare may use, not a list of cookies confirmed on every million.tools page. Their presence and expiration depend on the security configuration and the checks performed during a visit.

Further details can be found in Cloudflare’s cookie documentation.

First-Party and Third-Party Cookies

Cookies can also be distinguished by the domain responsible for setting them.

  • First-party cookies are set for the website’s own domain. They may support site functionality or be used by integrated services such as Google Analytics.
  • Third-party cookies are set by a domain other than the one you are visiting, typically when external content or services are loaded.

A third-party service does not necessarily set a third-party cookie. For example, Google Analytics commonly uses first-party cookies even though Google provides the analytics service.

Some tools and pages on million.tools may also interact with external platforms. These platforms may use their own browser technologies when their resources or features are loaded.

How Long Do Cookies Last?

The lifetime of a cookie depends on its purpose, the service responsible for it, and your browser’s settings.

Cookies generally fall into two categories:

  • Session cookies: Temporary cookies that are normally removed when your browser session ends.
  • Persistent cookies: Cookies that remain until their expiration date or until you delete them manually.

Some services may refresh cookie expiration dates during subsequent visits. Browsers can also impose their own storage limits, so the actual lifetime may be shorter than the period specified by a service.

Managing and Deleting Cookies

You can control most cookies directly through your browser. Modern browsers provide options to inspect stored cookies, remove existing data, and restrict which websites can save information on your device.

Depending on your browser, you can:

  • View and delete cookies stored by million.tools or other websites.
  • Block third-party cookies or restrict cookie storage more broadly.
  • Clear cookies and site data when closing the browser.
  • Use private browsing to limit certain types of data retained between sessions.

Cookie controls are usually available in your browser’s privacy or security settings. Instructions for popular browsers can be found here:

Blocking or deleting cookies may affect features that rely on browser storage, including remembered preferences and certain security checks. Basic website functionality may continue to work without optional analytics cookies.

Analytics Preferences and Consent

Some privacy laws require websites to obtain consent before storing or accessing information on a visitor’s device for non-essential purposes, including certain analytics activities.

Where consent is required, optional tracking technologies should not be activated until the appropriate permission has been obtained. Any consent provided must be capable of being withdrawn through an appropriate mechanism.

You can also use browser privacy settings to restrict cookies. If you prefer not to participate in Google Analytics measurement, Google provides a Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for supported browsers.

Browser controls and opt-out tools may not prevent all forms of technical data processing, including requests needed to deliver and secure the website.

Changes to This Cookie Policy

million.tools continues to grow, and the technologies used across the website may change as new tools and features are introduced.

This Cookie Policy may be updated to reflect changes to analytics services, security features, browser technologies, or applicable requirements.

The current version will be available at www.million.tools/cookie-policy/.
