Count identical rows to see how often each row value occurs in a pasted list. The duplicate row counter supports case and word-order matching, which helps reveal repeated keyword phrases and labels.

Treat uppercase and lowercase letters as different characters.

Treat rows containing the same words in a different order as matches.

How to use Count Identical Rows

Choose the matching rules before interpreting how often each row occurs.

Duplicate Row Counter

  1. Paste the rows to analyze into Insert list. Keep each phrase or value on its own line.
  2. Select Case-sensitive to separate capitalization variants. Select Ignore word order to group rows that contain the same whitespace-separated words in a different order.
  3. Click Count duplicates to process the current input.
  4. Read Row counts as tab-separated row text and its matching count. Distinct original spellings can each appear with the same shared group count.
  5. Click Copy under the output you want to keep. Use Clear where shown to clear the text fields; option selections stay as set.

For rows cat, Cat, and cat with both options off, the report contains cat with count 3 and Cat with count 3.

Frequency groups and displayed spellings

Case-insensitive matching groups lowercase equivalents, but the report retains each distinct original row spelling. The counts are group totals, so summing every displayed count can overcount source rows.

Word order changes the matching rule

Ignore word order compares sorted word tokens and normalizes spacing between them for matching. It does not rewrite the original row shown beside the count.

Frequently asked questions

With Case-sensitive off they belong to one matching group. Each distinct original spelling is still listed, with that shared group frequency.
