Find and Replace Words
Developer & Author —Egor VolchenkoFind and replace words across pasted text using a list of literal search terms. Use one shared replacement or align several replacement rows with the search rows to update multiple terms in one operation.
Treat uppercase and lowercase letters as different characters.
How to use Find and Replace Words
Align the search and replacement rows, or supply one replacement for every search term.
Bulk Text Replacement
- Paste the source into Insert text. Put one nonempty search term per row in Words or rows to search for, then fill Replacement rows.
- Use one replacement row for every search term, or the same number of replacement rows as search rows for positional pairing. Select Case-sensitive to preserve case in unmatched source text and match exact capitalization.
- Click Replace to process the current input.
- Read Result, Number of rows, and Number of replacements. With Case-sensitive off, the source is lowercased before matching; supplied replacement text keeps its own case.
- Click Copy under the output you want to keep. Use Clear where shown to clear the text fields; option selections stay as set.
With source Red apple and pear, search rows apple and pear, and replacement rows banana and cherry, the default result is red banana and cherry.
Literal matches can occur inside words
The tool does not enforce whole-word boundaries or interpret regular expressions. If search terms overlap, the longest term at the current position wins. Inserted replacement text is not searched again.
Check case and replacement alignment
Case-insensitive mode lowercases all source text, including portions without matches. For several replacements, keep the search and replacement lists aligned; an unsupported row-count mismatch is rejected.
Use one shared replacement
Enter several terms in Words or rows to search for and a single value in Replacement rows. Click Replace to apply that value to every matched term; leave Replacement rows empty to delete matches.
