How to use List Formatting

Choose only the symbol and spacing changes that your list needs.

List Text Cleanup

  1. Paste the source into Insert list. Add literal symbols to Enter comma-separated symbols, separating different removal terms with commas.
  2. Choose Remove empty rows, Remove commas, and Remove double spaces as needed. Remove empty rows is selected by default.
  3. Click Format to process the current input.
  4. Read Result and Number of replacements. The counter includes symbol matches and any selected whitespace or blank-row cleanup operations.
  5. Click Copy under the output you want to keep. Use Clear where shown to clear the text fields; option selections stay as set.

For Hi!, an empty row, and Bye!, enter ! as the symbol and keep Remove empty rows selected. Result contains Hi and Bye; the replacement count is 3.

Remove only the symbols you specify

Text in the symbol field is treated literally, not as a regular expression. Remove commas provides a separate control for commas because commas also separate the custom removal terms.

Cleanup does not deduplicate or sort

The remaining rows follow their source order. Formatting repeated punctuation and spacing does not merge identical entries or alphabetize the list.

Frequently asked questions

No. Enter the specific symbols to remove, or use Remove commas for commas. There is no clickable punctuation preset in the current form.
