Remove matching rows by comparing a source list with a separate list of values to exclude. This list subtraction tool keeps source rows that do not match any removal value under the selected rules.

Treat uppercase and lowercase letters as different characters.

Treat rows containing the same words in a different order as matches.

How to use Remove Matching Rows

Use a separate exclusion list to remove complete matching entries from the source.

List Subtraction Tool

  1. Paste the source into Insert list and put the values to exclude into Insert rows to delete, one complete row per value.
  2. Use Case-sensitive when letter case matters. Select Ignore word order when rows with the same words in a different sequence should match.
  3. Click Remove matches to process the current input.
  4. Read Result and check Rows remaining and Rows removed. Only the retained list is returned; the source remains in the input field.
  5. Click Copy under the output you want to keep. Use Clear where shown to clear the text fields; option selections stay as set.

For Apple, Banana, and Cherry, enter Banana in Insert rows to delete. Result contains Apple and Cherry.

Whole-row removal versus substring filtering

A removal value must match the entire row under the active case and word-order rules. A row containing apple pie is not removed by the value apple alone.

Preserve source order and repeated survivors

The output follows the source order. Repeated source rows that do not match the exclusion list remain repeated; this operation does not also deduplicate the result.

Frequently asked questions

No. The tool removes complete rows that match a removal value. It does not delete individual words from a longer row.
