How to use Replace Spaces with Line Breaks

Place each whitespace-separated item on its own line, with optional initial capitalization.

Spaces to Newlines

  1. Paste the words or passage into Insert list. Whitespace separates the items to place on individual rows.
  2. Keep Begin with uppercase letters selected to capitalize the start of each item, or clear it to preserve the original case.
  3. Click Move to process the current input.
  4. Read Result and Number of rows. Each whitespace-separated item appears on its own row.
  5. Click Copy under the output you want to keep. Use Clear where shown to clear the text fields; option selections stay as set.

For apple pear with Begin with uppercase letters selected, Result has two rows: Apple and Pear. The repeated space does not create an empty row.

Whitespace is treated as a separator

Spaces, tabs, and existing line breaks all separate items. Repeated whitespace is collapsed during splitting and does not create blank list entries.

Use it for words rather than quoted phrases

The tool splits at whitespace without recognizing quotation marks as grouping syntax. A phrase in quotes will still become separate word items.

Frequently asked questions

No. Runs of whitespace separate items without creating blank items.
