Add All Numbers in a Column
Developer & Author —Egor VolchenkoAdd all numbers in a column to obtain a total from one number per row. The column sum calculator accepts positive and negative decimal values, making it useful for checking simple numeric lists.
How to use Add All Numbers in a Column
Prepare a numeric column with one value per row before calculating its total.
Column Sum Calculator
- Paste one number per row into Insert list. Keep labels and currency symbols out of the numeric entries.
- Click Sum to process the current input.
- Read the total in Result. Blank rows are ignored; a nonempty row containing an invalid number prevents a valid sum.
- Click Copy under the output you want to keep. Use Clear where shown to clear the text fields; option selections stay as set.
For 12.5, 7.25, -2, and 0.25 on separate rows, Result is exactly 18.
Decimal separators and numeric notation
A dot or comma can be used as the decimal separator. A comma is not a thousands separator: 1,234 is 1.234. The parser also supports signs and scientific notation.
A numeric total rather than a formula sheet
The tool adds the supplied values and returns one plain-text total. It does not evaluate spreadsheet formulas or produce subtotals, averages, or a financial statement.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Enter one signed or unsigned number per row. Positive and negative values contribute to the same total.
