This BLAKE2s hash generator converts text or encoded bytes into a 256-bit digest. Check BLAKE2s-256 values when matching a protocol or testing embedded-system output. Choose lowercase Hex, uppercase Hex, or Base64, then copy the value for comparison.

How to use BLAKE2s Hash Generator

Use the following steps to process a small test input.

Calculate a BLAKE2s digest

  1. Paste the message into Input text. Select UTF-8 under Input Encoding: for ordinary text, or select the representation of encoded bytes.
  2. Leave Enable Keyed BLAKE2S off for an unkeyed BLAKE2s digest. The separate keyed workflow below describes what that switch actually enables.
  3. Choose Hex (lower), Hex (UPPER), or Base64 for the result.
  4. Leave Auto / Live on to update the result as you edit. To run manually, turn it off and click Run.
  5. Read BLAKE2s Hash Result. Keep the input bytes and the selected algorithm unchanged when comparing a reference value.
  6. Click Copy to copy the result. Use Clear where shown, or the field clear controls, to remove the text.

With UTF-8 input abc and the key switch off, lowercase Hex output is 508c5e8c327c14e2e1a72ba34eeb452f37458b209ed63a294d999b4c86675982.

A rejected request may leave an earlier result visible. Clear the fields and recheck the input before relying on a new calculation.

Match bytes before comparing hashes

A message is hashed after Input Encoding: is applied. The UTF-8 string 616263 is different from Hex 616263, which represents abc. Spaces and line endings also count as data.

Understand the fixed digest size

This form returns 32 bytes, or 64 hexadecimal characters. It has no output-length control. A shorter native BLAKE2s digest is a different parameterized hash; simply truncating this result is not an equivalent setting.

Use the shared HMAC-style option

  1. Turn on Enable Keyed BLAKE2S. This selects the form’s HMAC-style operation, not native keyed BLAKE2s.
  2. Enter the key in Secret Key / Password and select its representation with Key Encoding (Search/Type):.
  3. Keep the message and output representation selected, then click Run or leave Auto / Live enabled.
  4. Read BLAKE2s Hash Result and click Copy. Compare only against a reference using the same HMAC-style construction.

For UTF-8 message abc and UTF-8 key key, the enabled switch returns 0018bfddc0c878b3e270c6e59b35af01e164a42d89499c9447a90b58a4d60eb3 in lowercase Hex.

Frequently asked questions

No. A hash is a one-way digest, not encrypted text. To check a candidate, hash the same bytes again and compare the results.
